Crackdown 3 Details “On The Horizon” Developer Says

HOLY CRAP. XBOX EXCLUSIVE NEWS.

It’s been a while since anyone has gotten new information about Crackdown 3, but it seems like that’s going to change soon. More information about the Xbox One and PC is “on the horizon,” reads a tweet from the game’s official Twitter account.

“2017 is shaping up to be great!” the developer said. “Crackdown 3 info is on the horizon, and we’re ready to bring the boom!”

Asked on Twitter if the Crackdown 3 news might come on Thursday as part of the Project Scorpio reveal, the developer said, “We have no insight in to what other teams are working on, but Crackdown news will start rolling out BIG TIME in the coming months.”

The “coming months” could be a reference to E3, which takes place in early June. Microsoft’s briefing is scheduled for the afternoon of Sunday, June 11, which is earlier than its normal Monday morning timeslot.

Crackdown 3, or at least a part of it, was previously expected to launch in 2016. Microsoft later confirmed a delay to 2017, for a couple of reasons. First, Xbox marketing manager Aaron Greenberg said the open-world game won’t launch in 2016 because the company’s holiday lineup was already so stuffed with great games that it didn’t need more. Later, Microsoft Studios boss Shannon Loftis said the delay is partially the result of needing more time work on the campaign.

We also know that the game will run at 4K on Project Scorpio and should launch this holiday or sooner. Crackdown 3 is in development at Reagent Games, under the guidance of Crackdown series veteran David Jones.

Spider-Man Still Happening in 2017

According to Ryan Penagos, VP and executive editor of Marvel Digital MediaInsomniac GamesPlayStation 4-exclusive Spider-Man title is still going to be released in 2017

Penagos was talking about Marvel’s recent video game output during a livestream and said “there’s even more on the horizon for 2017 like Spider-Man coming to PlayStation 4 and Marvel Vs. Capcom: Infinite coming to Xbox One, PS4, and PC.” Insomniac’s Spider-Man title was announced during E3 2016 but as of yet Insomniac, Sony, and Marvel have not officially announced a release date for the game.

Marvel Studios and Sony Pictures have partnered for Spider-Man: Homecoming, a new movie which is set to hit cinemas in July. Insomniac’s game isn’t tied into this movie, but would no doubt benefit from being released this year. However, as previously stated, an official release date has not yet been specified for the game. Spider-Man the game casts players as the iconic web-slinger in a completely original story. It takes place at a time when Peter Parker is “experienced” and “more masterful at fighting crime” in New York.

“From traversing with parkour and utilizing the environment, to new combat and blockbuster set pieces, it’s Spider-Man unlike any you’ve played before,” reads a line from the game’s description. Spider-Man, which is a working title for the PlayStation 4 game, is the first licensed game Insomniac has ever made. It is known most for the Ratchet and Clank series.

Star Wars Battlefront II Officially Announced For 2017

EA has announced the next Star Wars Battlefront game, as well as offered official confirmation of its final title: Star Wars Battlefront II.

The full reveal will come on Saturday, April 15th, at 2:30 p.m., as part of that week’s Star Wars Celebration festivities in Orlando, Florida. A trailer and first details will arrive during a special panel called “The Galaxywide Premiere of Star Wars Battlefront II,” so we’re likely to get some firm details and discussion, rather than just a quick glimpse at the game. The only real visual released alongside the announcement is the new logo. Not exactly exciting, but something to hold you over for the next few weeks:

EA hasn’t exactly been coy about its plans to deliver a follow-up to Star Wars Battlefront, confirming the game was in development and briefly showing off some concept art during E3 2016. In addition, the publisher has discussed the project during investor calls, sharing a few scant details about what we can expect in the process. The sequel will include content from multiple eras, including the new trilogy of films, with a “dramatically larger” scope, and quite possibly a full single-player experience.

In addition to the showing at Star Wars Celebration, Battlefront II will also be on display at EA Play, the even the publisher’s runs alongside E3 in June. Star Wars Battlefront II launches this holiday season, presumably on PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and PC.

Sonic Fans rejoice! New Gameplay Debuts For Sonic Forces

Sonic fans, permission to freak out now!

Sega released the  very first gameplay video for Sonic Forces, formerly known as Project Sonic 2017. In the video, it shows the Blue Blur running through a city under attack, collecting rings, using his homing attack to destroy enemies and leaping between platforms. All while Death Egg Robot sentinels are seen in the background knocking down and destroying buildings and launching bombs.

Sonic Forces is coming to PlayStation 4, Xbox One, PC, and the Nintendo Switch in late 2017. It runs on a brand-new engine that Sega is calling “The Hedgehog Engine 2.” The game’s new name is a reference to the battle between the forces of good and evil.

More Sonic news has come out along with the gameplay. Sonic Mania has been delayed from this spring to summer. A specific release date hasn’t been provided yet, but Sega showed off the game again, teasing new enemies, preorder bonuses, a collector’s edition vinyl album, and the return of the Flying Battery Zone.

The 24th Overwatch Character, Orisa, Arrives Next Week

Orisa is the latest character to be introduced to the Overwatch fray, will be available on PC, PlayStation 4 and Xbox One on March 21st. Orisa is an “anchor tank,” according to Blizzard. This means she’s a massive, damage-absorbing hero that an entire team can rally behind and use as a home base, even in the middle of hectic fights. Reinhardt is an example of an anchor tank.

Orisa is a robot built by an 11-year-old genius, Efi Oladele, who lives in the city of Numbani. Her main gun has two functions, Fusion Driver and Halt. Fusion Driver is a projectile-based, long-range machine gun that causes her to move slower as she’s firing. Halt allows Orisa to shoot out a graviton ball that can suck in all nearby enemies for easy pickings. Think of Halt as a mini version of Zarya‘s ultimate.

Fortify is a pure tank ability, reducing her damage intake by 50 percent and making her immune to attacks that would cause her to move position or fall off a ledge. Her other ability, Protective Barrier, allows her to launch a shield that protects her teammates from enemy fire. Orisa’s ultimate ability is Supercharger. She always carries a drum on her back, and when her ultimate is charged, she can throw it on the ground to provide a 50 percent damage boost to any teammate in the drum’s line of sight, but the enemy team can kill the drum.

Are you guys getting excited for the newest addition to the Overwatch team?
