Quick Review: Mass Effect Andromeda

Mass Effect Andromeda dropped this morning and I would say I put in a solid seven hours into the game so far and I feel ready to give my first impressions of the game.

Glitches aren’t as bad as they say.

There’s been so much talk about the glitches, bugs and facial features in this game which has given the game less than stellar reviews. Now I have noticed a few of these things happen when I played last night but it is no where near as bad as the critics make it out to be. In fact, besides the characters looking goofy at times, I have yet to run in to a glitch or bug that prevents me from completing my mission or making me have to load my last save. Maybe the critics should play more than 15 minutes of the game before they give a real review.

What in exploration?

One of my favorite parts about the last two Mass Effect games was the scanning of planets. While Andromeda does have that system still in place, it doesn’t seem to have the same rewarding feeling the other games gave you. So far, out of the 20  or so planets that I have scanned, whatever planet had an anomaly discovered on its surface, that would be the only thing you could do with the planet. It would be a one and done with the probe. You can still find a lot of the elements on the planets that you can land on, going from system to system flying your little Normandy around will always have a place in my heart

Voice of the people

The voice acting has been superb. The actors really stepped up their game for these roles as you really feel a connection with the characters because they sound like they’re so invested in what they are doing as a Pathfinder crew, it makes you feel for them and want them to do well.

Oh hey there, 2010 graphics

The graphics for the game are well done but still feel like your playing on an Xbox 360. To me, the graphics can take a hit as long as the story and gameplay are spot on and so far, I feel like that’s what Bioware has done but people will still not be happy with the way the game looks.

No “I” in team

Your team so far doesn’t have anyone that strikes you as a game changer. Everyone seems like they have a steady balance with their powers but still have no problem being a tank and running into the action with a shotgun.

That’s only a quick review that I have for it now but for now, I’ll give it a 8/10 out of hype and being a fanboy. I’ll have a full and unbiased review for it Monday morning!
