The long awaited and highly anticipated next chapter in the Resident Evil series drops tonight at midnight and has all the fan boys and girls giddy with excitement.
RE7 is essentially a “soft” reboot of the series. It’s still being considered a sequel but doesn’t really follow the story of Resident Evil 6. In RE7, not only are you not part of Umbrella or S.T.A.R.S., you are just an regular guy named Ethan who is looking for his missing wife in Dulvey, Louisiana. You have no special skills, no training in hand to hand combat like a soldier would in the other games. This is as survival as survival horror gets. Ethan stumbles into a eerie, old, crappy mansion owned by the cannibalistic Baker family and it just goes downhill after that.
During your time in the Baker mansion, there are clues and hints hidden in the story that may lead you to believe something big is going to happen soon in this story. Even though you don’t work for the Umbrella Corp or S.T.A.R.S (that we know of) doesn’t mean that they won’t be somehow involved with the new start of the series and don’t even rule out the possibility of old friends from the older games making an appearance. Here’s a few things to look out for when you start playing tonight.
Umbrella Corporation is involved?
In the stand alone demo that Capcom put out called Resident Evil: Beginning Hour, you stumble across a photo of a helicopter flying overhead that was more than likely taken by the cannibals in the house. Doesn’t seem like a big deal until you see there’s a Umbrella Corp logo on the chopper and written on the back was, ‘Are they watching us from the helicopter?’. Oh you sneaky, sneaky S.O.B.’s at Umbrella. We know you’re up to no good.
You Have The ‘Wong’ Number.
The recent demo has a handful of phone calls from a mysterious woman, with many fans rushing to the conclusion that it was a series favorite, Ada Wong. There’s even rumors that a certain Chris Redfield will make an appearance and not to mention a nod to the long-time series antagonist, Albert Wesker.
Bio Organic Weapons (or BOW) were Umbrellas brilliant idea after the discovery of the Progenitor Virus. The bio medical research company aimed to create weapons off of its findings to sell to the highest bidder. We’ve seen the zombie-like creatures in the demo, and it looks as though there’s going to be plenty more where those came from. Can we expect them to tie into Resident Evil’s backstory about biomedical research and BOWs? No one really knows yet and if they do, they haven’t hinted on how its going to tie in just yet.
These are just the few clues found so far in the demo. The game will no doubt have more and everyone is eager to find out what the hell is going on!
